Bunnie Xo Discusses Health Impact of Jelly Roll Divorce on Podcast
Bunnie Xo said her split from Jelly Roll led to severe physical strain, including weight loss and medical assistance, and she aims to move forward.
Bunnie Xo told Jenna Bush Hager’s “Open Book” podcast that the divorce from singer Jelly Roll caused significant health issues, requiring her team to lift her from the floor and administer IV fluids. She said she stopped eating regular meals after the couple separated in May and subsisted on baby food, resulting in a loss of about 20 pounds.
The 46-year-old, whose legal name is Alisa DeFord, was married to the 41-year-old Grammy-winning artist for nearly a decade before he filed for divorce on May 18, with the settlement reached in July. Xo said she wants to emerge from the experience stronger, noting she is focusing on recovery rather than remaining a “poster child for divorce.”
She referenced a previously released episode of her own “Dumb Blonde” podcast in which she discussed the split, but she later removed that episode, saying she did not want to dwell on the matter. Xo also mentioned a final argument with Jelly Roll on Mother’s Day, during which she urged him to file the divorce papers, though she later said she spoke out of anger and did not intend to end the relationship.
Despite the difficulties, Xo said the couple had been planning to have a child together after an IVF process. Jelly Roll has remained largely silent, aside from a comment at a June concert that he and Xo will always be best friends.
