Dave Bautista Shares Workout Progress Ahead of Prime Video's 'God of War' Series

Summary

Actor Dave Bautista posted a video showing his physical preparation for the role of Kratos after replacing Ryan Hurst, who was injured during filming.

Actor Dave Bautista posted a short Instagram video displaying his workout results as he prepares to portray Kratos in Prime Video’s upcoming "God of War" series. The clip shows Bautista in training attire, removing his shirt to highlight his physique before striking the character’s signature pose.

Bautista, known for his role in "Guardians of the Galaxy," is stepping into the part after original cast member Ryan Hurst suffered a biceps tear while performing a stunt in June, four months into production. The injury prompted a restart of filming, with producers planning to begin anew in mid-October in Vancouver and to discard any footage from the earlier shoot.

The series will follow the mythic father-son duo Kratos and Atreus, portrayed by Bautista and Callum Vinson, on a quest to scatter the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. The ensemble also includes Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, and several other actors in supporting roles.
