Teen son of Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann seeks bond after sexual assault charges
Kroy Biermann Jr., 15, has asked a Georgia judge to release him on bond following his arrest on aggravated sodomy and sexual battery charges, citing his academic and athletic record.
A Georgia court is considering a bond request from Kroy Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of former NFL player Kroy Biermann and reality-TV personality Kim Zolciak. The teenager was arrested last month on charges of aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual battery after allegedly assaulting a classmate in a school gym changing area.
Biermann Jr.'s attorneys filed a petition arguing that his strong academic performance, scholarship-earning athletic achievements and deep community ties demonstrate good character and low flight risk. They described him as a "high school student in good standing" with supportive relationships among family, friends, teachers and coaches.
The lawyer also noted that the teen has cooperated with investigators, including taking a polygraph exam, and has not attempted to leave the jurisdiction since learning of the allegations in April. The filing requested that the proceedings remain confidential because both the accused and the alleged victim are minors.
The case has attracted significant media attention due to the family's public profile.
