HBO unveiled a fresh trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter adaptation, confirming cast members and a Christmas premiere, and announced Kit Harington will replace Nicholas Hoult as Gilderoy Lockhart in season two.

HBO released a new trailer for its upcoming adaptation of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," offering a longer look at Harry Potter's first year at Hogwarts. The preview shows Dominic McLaughlin as Harry pleading with the Sorting Hat, attending Herbology lessons, discovering Quidditch, and confronting a troll in the dungeon. Janet McTeer appears as Professor McGonagall, while Paapa Essiedu plays Professor Snape, who tells Harry, "Let's hope you show some talent on the Quidditch pitch, Potter. You certainly have not exhibited any in here."

The series also features John Lithgow as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid, and newcomers Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton as Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. HBO describes the project as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's novels and plans to premiere it on HBO and HBO Max this Christmas.

Casting news for the second season includes Kit Harington taking over the role of Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, replacing Nicholas Hoult, who exited due to scheduling conflicts.
