Travis Kelce describes intimate, phone-free wedding to Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden

Summary

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said his and Taylor Swift's July 3 wedding was a private, celebration-focused event at Madison Square Garden, with no phones, limited formalities and performances by major artists.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce discussed details of his wedding to Taylor Swift during the first episode of his Spotify podcast New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce. He said the ceremony at Madison Square Garden was intended to be intimate and free of distractions, and that the venue helped create a private atmosphere.

Kelce noted that traditional wedding elements such as formal speeches and a sit-down dinner were omitted in favor of continuous partying. More than 1,000 guests were prohibited from using cell phones, a rule intended to keep the event private and encourage attendees to be present.

He said the lack of phones allowed guests to interact more naturally, mixing friends from his and Swift’s childhoods, families, and professional circles. The couple required attendees to sign digital nondisclosure agreements before the event.

According to Kelce, the celebration featured performances by Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney, a speech by Lena Dunham, and an “enchanted garden” theme with arcade-style catering. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony after becoming ordained in New York.

The publicist confirmed that both Kelce and Swift wore Christian Dior outfits, with Swift also wearing custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry. Celebrity guests reportedly included Brad Pitt, Conan O'Brien, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Emma Stone, Gigi Hadid, Jennifer Lawrence, Ethan Hawke, Camila Cabello and Dakota Johnson.

Little Big Town described the wedding as “a joy to watch” and “unforgettable,” while BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James called the event “unbelievably fun” and highlighted the abundance of food, multiple cakes, and dancing on stage.

Kelce previously called the wedding “the best night of my life” at a Chiefs press conference on Aug. 12, expressing gratitude to everyone who attended.
