Tiger Woods to Seek New Plea in Florida DUI Case
Court filings indicate the golfer will request a different plea from his earlier not-guilty plea in the March DUI incident on Jupiter Island, with a hearing set for Wednesday.
Tiger Woods is scheduled to appear before a Martin County circuit court on Wednesday to request a change to the not-guilty plea he entered after a March rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida, court documents show. The incident occurred when his Land Rover struck a truck on a residential road with a 30 mph speed limit, causing about $5,000 in damage to the truck. Woods exited the vehicle without injury and told a deputy he was looking at his phone and adjusting the radio when the collision happened.
According to an incident report, Woods submitted to a breath-alyzer test that showed no alcohol, but declined a urine test; deputies later found two pain pills in his pocket and noted signs of impairment. He has since sought treatment at an inpatient facility outside the United States, and judges have approved agreements allowing prosecutors to review his medical and prescription records related to the crash.
Woods’ attorney, Doug Duncan, and the State Attorney’s Office did not respond to requests for comment. The golfer, 50, has previously been involved in several vehicle accidents and has taken leaves from professional play for medical treatment. He made a public appearance on June 23 to introduce the PGA Tour’s 2028 schedule changes, remaining chairman of the tour’s Future Competition Committee, but did not field questions.
