Foldable iPhone Ultra Expected to Include MagSafe Charging, Analyst Says
Analyst Mark Gurman told Tom's Guide that the upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra will likely support MagSafe charging and is slated to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September.
Apple’s anticipated foldable iPhone Ultra is expected to feature MagSafe charging, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman said in an interview with Tom’s Guide. Gurman noted that while early dummy models of the device lacked a MagSafe ring, later leaked cases did include one, and he believes the technology will be integrated.
"All indications that I've heard is that MagSafe is in for this foldable phone. They were able to get it into the iPhone Air, and I don't see why they wouldn't be able to get it into the foldable," Gurman said.
The Ultra is rumored to be extremely thin—about 4.5 mm when open—and to replace Face ID with Touch ID. Other reported specifications include a price above $2,000, a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display, a passport-style form factor, Apple’s latest modem and A20 Pro chip, wide and ultra-wide cameras without a telephoto lens, and a durable hinge with a minimal crease. Apple is also said to be adapting apps to resize automatically for the dual-screen format.
Gurman expects the foldable to be announced at Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event on September 9, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, and he expressed doubt that the device would be delayed to later in the year.
