Iran conducts retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain

Summary

Iran launched drone and missile attacks on U.S. facilities in the Middle East, prompting air defense interceptions and statements from officials in the region.

Iran carried out a series of drone and ballistic missile attacks on U.S. military installations in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, following a U.S. strike on Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets earlier in the day.

Kuwait’s army reported that its air defenses engaged hostile drones, while the Bahraini Interior Ministry issued an alert of a potential threat after local sources heard multiple explosions. In Jordan, the armed forces said they intercepted ten of thirteen incoming missiles, with three impacts occurring in remote areas away from civilian populations. No U.S. casualties were reported, according to two American officials.

The IRGC claimed that the attacks hit a U.S. Marine base in Jordan, alleging significant personnel losses and damage to aircraft, though U.S. and local authorities have not confirmed these claims.

Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari warned that Iran would no longer restrain its actions toward Bahrain and Kuwait, stating that “gifts are on the way.”

U.S. Central Command and President Donald Trump confirmed the earlier U.S. strikes, describing them as retaliation for Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and an alleged missile launch at a Jordanian base.
