Tiger Woods to appear for change-of-plea hearing in Florida DUI case

Summary

Tiger Woods is scheduled to attend a change-of-plea hearing in Martin County, Florida, after being charged with DUI and property damage stemming from a March rollover crash.

Tiger Woods will appear before a Martin County judge on Wednesday for a change-of-plea hearing related to a DUI charge stemming from a rollover accident near his Jupiter Island residence in March. The 50-year-old golfer was originally charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a test after his Land Rover struck a trailer and overturned.

According to the sheriff’s office, Woods had two hydrocodone pills in his pocket and failed a field-sobriety test. He later passed a breathalyzer test, which showed no alcohol, but declined a urine test. The sheriff said Woods appeared “lethargic” after the crash and later told investigators he was looking at his cell phone and changing the radio station at the time of the incident.

Prosecutors have been granted permission to subpoena Woods’s prescription records from a Palm Beach pharmacy, though the documents will remain confidential. The hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart, Florida.
