Prediction-market platform Kalshi has permanently banned disgraced former New York Representative George Santos and imposed a $71,356 penalty for alleged insider trading and obstructing compliance efforts.
On August 31, Kalshi announced a lifetime ban and a $71,356 fine against former U.S. Representative George Santos, a figure emblematic of political corruption and right-wing grift. The platform's compliance department cited Santos's refusal to cooperate with their investigation as grounds for the decisive action. This follows a previous settlement in which Santos paid $35,000 to resolve a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) probe into his unethical trades on a contract predicting State of the Union attendance.
The CFTC revealed that Santos manipulated the market between February 12 and February 25, then exploited his public platform to sway contract prices, pocketing over $17,500. Kalshi's ban sends a clear message: those who abuse power and manipulate markets for personal gain will face real consequences.
"Hey @Kalshi thanks for the lifetime ban from your gambling platform, let's see how much longer you guys are around for," Santos sneered on X, displaying the arrogance typical of those who believe they're above accountability.
Santos, expelled from the House in 2023 and convicted of fraud and identity theft, saw his sentence reduced only after a controversial presidential pardon. He now holds the dubious distinction of being the first person ever permanently banned from Kalshi—a fitting fate for a symbol of systemic greed and dishonesty.
