Apple's foldable iPhone Ultra expected to launch in September with limited supply
Apple is set to unveil its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Ultra, at its September event, and recent reports suggest it will ship that month in limited quantities.
Apple plans to introduce its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Ultra, at its September product event. The company will also reveal the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which are expected to go on sale later in the week ahead of broader availability on September 18.
While the Ultra will be announced alongside the new iPhone 18 models, it is not yet clear whether it will be shipped to customers at the same time. Recent supply-chain sources indicate the device is likely to ship in September but with a very constrained supply.
"Supply will be extremely limited at launch," said Fixed Focus Digital, a leaker on Weibo, citing sources in the supply chain.
"There was no change in the delivery time date in September, denying rumors of product postponement," a source quoted by Cailian News Agency reported.
Channel News Australia also indicated the Ultra would be available in the United States during September. Earlier speculation suggested a later fall release, similar to the iPhone X rollout in 2017, and some reports even hinted at a delay into 2027, but those claims have been refuted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who said the device remains on track for a September launch.
Analysts conclude that the most recent information points to a September shipment window, albeit limited to certain regions and quantities, allowing early adopters to purchase the foldable soon after its announcement.
