Apple releases iOS 27 beta 8 with upgraded Siri AI features

Summary

Apple has made the eighth developer beta of iOS 27 available, highlighting a major overhaul of Siri powered by new AI models and a range of performance and UI enhancements.

Apple has rolled out the eighth developer beta of iOS 27 for devices enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. Users can install the update via Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. The build is expected to become public beta 6, with the final public release slated for September.

The update places a strong emphasis on Siri, introducing a rebuilt assistant that leverages Apple’s next-generation AI models, known as Apple Intelligence and Apple Foundation Models. According to Apple, the new Siri AI offers richer conversations, personal context, broader world knowledge, on-screen awareness, and deeper integration with apps. A visual redesign ties Siri to the Dynamic Island, and a dedicated Siri app will allow users to revisit past interactions across devices.

Additional AI-driven enhancements appear in Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, Home and other system areas, with some features running on-device and others using Private Cloud Compute. The beta also adds a Siri mode in the Camera app and improvements to Camera Control.

Beyond AI, iOS 27 refines the Liquid Glass design introduced last year, adding a transparency slider for system UI. Performance gains include faster app launches, quicker photo loading, smoother camera activation in Low Power Mode, improved AirDrop transfers and faster Wi-Fi-to-cellular handoffs. New functionalities such as photo keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, continuous message sending, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom EQ for AirPods, expanded Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpapers are also included.

Apple expects the final version of iOS 27 to be released in the coming weeks.
