Packers running back Josh Jacobs placed on NFL Commissioner Exempt List
The NFL has moved Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs to the Commissioner Exempt List while it investigates recent misdemeanor charges.
The National Football League announced that Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been placed on the Commissioner Exempt List as the league gathers additional information about recent legal issues. Jacobs faces two misdemeanor charges following an arrest in late May that initially included five counts, one of which was a felony, related to an alleged incident involving a woman in a shared residence garage.
While on the exempt list, Jacobs will continue to receive his salary but will be barred from practice; he may still attend team meetings. The duration of his status is uncertain, as only the Commissioner can lift the exemption, and Jacobs' first court appearance is set for November, aligning with Week 11 of the season.
The Packers have not provided further comment, and the team recently acquired former Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson in a trade. The roster change has elevated MarShawn Lloyd to the top of the backfield depth chart.
