Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen arrested on suspicion of DUI
Indianapolis police arrested veteran NFL receiver Keenan Allen on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a week after he signed with the Colts.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police arrested 34-year-old Keenan Allen early Sunday after officers observed signs of intoxication during a traffic stop. The stop began as a parking violation investigation when Allen's car was found in a no-parking zone in downtown Indianapolis. Police said they then suspected he was impaired and placed him under arrest on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and endangering a person.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will determine the final charges. Allen, who joined the Colts less than two weeks ago and is entering his 14th NFL season, had recorded one reception in the team's preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday.
"We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time," the Colts said in a statement.
Allen previously spent 12 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and one with the Chicago Bears, earning six Pro Bowl selections during his career.
