Iran's supreme leader urges Muslim nations to unite against Israel and United States
Iran's supreme leader called on Islamic countries to recognize Israel and the United States as common adversaries, while separate incidents involving Israeli settlers and an Israeli airstrike were reported in the West Bank and Gaza.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, wrote to religious leaders attending a Tehran conference urging Muslim nations to cooperate and confront what he described as their "real enemy" – the United States and Israel. He warned rulers to understand the plans of these states and to oppose them.
In the occupied West Bank, an NBC crew was attacked by Israeli settlers while interviewing a Palestinian woman who said she had been forced from her home. The journalists and the woman received non-life-threatening injuries, according to the network and the Israeli military, which said it was aware of the incident.
A British activist, Finn Joughin, was seized by settlers in a Palestinian village, held briefly in a shed and then handed over to police. His lawyer said the police moved to deport him without a hearing, describing the case as politically motivated.
An Israeli airstrike in the Deir al-Balah area of central Gaza killed a three-year-old boy and a man identified by the Israeli military as a Hamas operative. Hospital officials confirmed the child’s death and reported another wounded civilian. The strike adds to the death toll in Gaza since the fragile cease-fire began in October.
"My enduring and repeating advice to rulers of Islamic nations is to know your real enemy, understand its plans and confront it," Khamenei wrote.
"Without any hearing, the police has decided to move him to deportation, which just shows that this entire case has been political in the first place," lawyer Inbar Shaked Vardi said.
The incidents highlight ongoing tensions across the region, with Iran seeking broader Muslim solidarity against perceived external threats while violence continues between Israeli settlers, Palestinians, and the Israeli military.
