Chris Hansen Comments on Robert Pattinson's Portrayal in Upcoming Film "Primetime"

Summary

Chris Hansen said Robert Pattinson's depiction of him in the trailer for "Primetime" is a decent imitation, though not an exact replica, and noted his family's positive reaction.

Chris Hansen, the former host of Dateline NBC’s To Catch a Predator, told Entertainment Tonight that the trailer for the upcoming film Primetime shows Robert Pattinson delivering a "pretty good imitation" of him. > "Obviously he has practiced imitating me, and while I think it’s overly dramatic, I think there is a pretty good imitation there in the trailer," Hansen said.

He added that his wife and other family members viewed the performance favorably. > "It’s not so much what I think; it’s what other people think. And you know, my wife [and] my family seem to think it’s a pretty good imitation," he explained.

Hansen clarified that the character differs from his real-life persona, noting that the film includes lines and actions he never made. > "He’s saying things I never said and doing things I never did, and that’s not who I am. I’m a nice guy, except when it comes to criminals and predators," he said, urging viewers to remember the movie is a fictional work based on real events.

The actor’s representatives did not respond to requests for comment. Hansen also reiterated his lack of involvement in the project, saying A24’s lawyers asked him to waive rights to his name, image and brand, which he refused, resulting in him not seeing the finished film.
