Director Dave Green celebrates theatrical release of "Coyote vs. Acme" after studio delays
"Coyote vs. Acme" will open in theaters on Aug. 28, 2026 following its sale to Ketchup Entertainment, and director Dave Green thanked fans and the production team for the film's eventual release.
The Looney Tunes-style comedy "Coyote vs. Acme" is slated to open in cinemas on Aug. 28, 2026 after Ketchup Entertainment acquired the project from Warner Bros. The film, written by Samy Burch and based on a story by James Gunn, Jeremy Slater and Burch, follows Wile E. Coyote as he sues the Acme Corporation for defective products. The cast includes Will Forte, Lana Condor, John Cena, Luis Guzmán and Kenneth Choi.
Director Dave Green posted on Instagram that the movie is now in theaters and thanked the audience, cast and crew for their support. > "It’s proof that movies don’t just go away. Persistence and resilience have truly won the day," Green said.
Warner Bros. had originally scheduled the film for a July 21, 2023 release but postponed it to accommodate the debut of "Barbie" and later shelved the project, taking a $30 million tax write-off. The studio completed the sale of the film to Ketchup Entertainment in March 2025, enabling the upcoming theatrical launch.
