The Spider-Man sequel remains the most widely shown film in U.S. theaters, occupying 3,678 screens, ahead of new releases Coyote vs. Acme and The Dog Stars.
The Sony-Marvel blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day entered its fifth weekend as the most widely exhibited film in the United States, playing in 3,678 theaters, according to box-office data. The count represents a slight decline from the previous weekend’s 4,006 screens but still exceeds the openings of the two new releases.
Warner Bros.’ Looney Tunes-themed comedy Coyote vs. Acme opened in 3,575 theaters. The film holds a 95 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92 percent audience score, and industry analysts project a domestic opening between $14 million and $22 million.
Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars debuted in 3,330 theaters, with early estimates suggesting a domestic opening of $9 million to $14 million despite mixed critical reception.
Since its July 31 debut, Brand New Day has set several box-office records, including the largest opening day ($169 million), the biggest domestic opening weekend ($360 million), the highest Monday gross ($47 million), and the fastest film to reach $500 million in seven days. It is currently the second-largest domestic grossing film ever and the highest-grossing release of 2026.
