Newsmax contributor Carl Higbie deleted every Jelly Roll song from his phone during a live broadcast after the singer, who was filling in for Jimmy Kimmel, made jokes about President Donald Trump. Higbie said he would delete the music as the camera showed his phone screen.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, addressed the backlash in his monologue, saying that any president should be able to handle jokes and that listeners could stop playing his music if they wished. He added that he was willing to accept the consequence.
"Go ahead? OK, dude, OK. I'll be deleting his music as we speak," Higbie said as he removed the tracks.
Newsmax commentator Kay Smythe also criticized the singer, calling him a "celebrity sl*t" and suggesting his popularity would decline.
During his appearance, Jelly Roll reflected on political division, urging listeners to focus on common ground despite differing views. He concluded with a personal note about his father's advice that it is never too late to do the right thing.
