PGA Tour unveils 2027 schedule with 36 events and added spacing for signature tournaments

Summary

The PGA Tour released its 2027 calendar, featuring 36 tournaments, including all four majors, and a restructured layout that avoids back-to-back signature events.

The PGA Tour announced a 36-event schedule for the 2027 season, maintaining the four major championships while spreading out its eight signature tournaments to prevent consecutive weeks of high-profile play. The calendar begins with The American Express in La Quinta, California, on Jan. 21-24 and includes a return to Pebble Beach for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in early February.

Notable changes include the permanent removal of the Kapalua event, now called The Sentry, and the absence of the Sony Open, Puerto Rico Open and Rocket Classic. A new tournament, the Sompo Napa Championship, will be held the week before the season-ending GO by Raymond James in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The schedule also shifts the Valspar Championship to early May and places the Cadillac Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational around The Players in March, ensuring no signature events occur in successive weeks. A TBD tournament is slated opposite the Genesis Invitational in mid-February, with the PGA Tour indicating the Puerto Rico Open may fill that slot as a Challenger series event in 2028.

The 2027 lineup will be the final format before the Tour transitions to a two-tiered model in 2028, introducing Championship and Challenger series events. Eligibility details for the new structure are expected by the end of the year.
