Prince Harry and Meghan Return to UK After Planned Relocation
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Britain from California, settling in the Cotswolds as non-working royals, while details of their security arrangements remain pending.
Prince Harry, Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, landed at Birmingham Airport on Saturday, returning to the United Kingdom after announcing a move from California. The family is expected to reside at a private property in the Cotswolds and will not resume official royal duties.
A spokesperson for the couple declined to comment further on the trip. No police presence was reported at the airport, according to a source.
The Sussexes, who stepped back from royal duties in early 2020 and moved to the United States later that year, had not been together in the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. Their relocation was reportedly discussed with King Charles earlier this month, though it was not a topic of a recent visit to his Highgrove residence.
Archie and Lilibet have been enrolled in school, with the new term set to begin next week. The Prince of Wales and the Princess of Wales have also been briefed on the plans.
Security arrangements for the family remain unclear. The Home Office noted that decisions on royal protection are made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) and described the UK’s protective security system as “rigorous and proportionate.”
