Anthropic cites $30 trillion addressable market in investor briefing

Summary

Anthropic told investors its potential revenue could reach $30 trillion, positioning the figure as its total addressable market.

Anthropic, a frontier artificial-intelligence laboratory, told investors that its total addressable market could exceed $30 trillion, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The company said the figure represents the full amount of potential revenue across all categories it could serve, rather than a projected actual sales number.

Analysts noted that achieving such revenue would require the firm to capture the entire market, a scenario that would imply a monopoly. For context, the 191 technology firms in the S&P 1500 generated about $2.4 trillion in revenue last year, meaning Anthropic's estimate is roughly twelve times that total. The United States' annual gross domestic product is about $32.4 trillion, slightly higher than the amount cited by the company.

"Our addressable market spans a broad range of applications, and we believe the opportunity is substantial," a company spokesperson said.

The estimate surpasses a previous claim made by SpaceX, which had referenced a $28.5 trillion market size when it went public earlier this year.
