Country singer Jelly Roll guest-hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live and remarks on President Trump's weight
Jelly Roll filled in as guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he joked about President Donald Trump's recent weight gain and referenced his own weight-loss achievements.
Country singer Jelly Roll stepped in as guest host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for four nights, noting it was the first time he had worn a suit and tie on television. During his opening monologue, he referenced the IndyCar race in Washington, D.C., hosted by President Donald Trump, and joked that the president seemed to enjoy the event as a change from his usual preferences.
"The president seemed to enjoy the IndyCar race, which was a real switch-up for him because normally he only likes his own race," Jelly Roll said.
He cited a Washington Post report indicating that doctors are concerned about Trump's weight after a recent physical showed a gain of about 14 pounds, bringing the president’s weight to roughly 240 pounds. Jelly Roll contrasted this with his own weight-loss journey, stating he had lost 300 pounds over recent years.
"That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump," he quipped, adding that public opinion appears to favor similar health improvements.
The segment also included clips of Trump previously making remarks about people's size and appearance. Jelly Roll concluded by emphasizing the importance of physical fitness.
The appearance followed Jelly Roll’s Grammy win for Best Contemporary Country Album, where he previously discussed his limited engagement with politics. His guest lineup on the show included podcast host Jay Shetty and actor Glen Powell, with Powell mentioning Jelly Roll’s upcoming small role in the film "The Comeback King."
