Apple may unveil AirPods 5 at September iPhone event, Bloomberg reports
Bloomberg says Apple could introduce two versions of the AirPods 5, including a regular and an active-noise-cancelling model, at its expected September 9 product launch, alongside new iPhone and Apple Watch updates.
Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new generation of its entry-level earbuds at its upcoming September product event, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported. The AirPods 5 are expected to be offered in two versions – a standard model and a version with active noise cancellation – and could be announced on September 9, the date slated for the company's next iPhone unveiling.
The report adds that the AirPods 5 would be the first refresh since the 2024 update, while a camera-equipped version of the earbuds is not anticipated until the following year. Gurman also noted that Apple plans to reveal a new Mac mini, a foldable iPhone model, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, and updated Apple Watches featuring minor design tweaks, fitness-tracking upgrades and a ceramic-case option for Series 12.
"The rollout will include new AirPods 5, an update to Apple’s entry-level earbuds, the people said. That model was last refreshed in 2024. A camera-equipped version of the AirPods, meanwhile, isn’t expected until next year," the Bloomberg report quoted.
Apple previously included a demo video of the camera-enabled AirPods in a macOS release candidate, though the clip did not clearly reveal any physical differences.
