Apple releases iOS 27 beta 7 with upgraded Siri AI

Summary

Apple has made the seventh developer beta of iOS 27 available, featuring a revamped Siri AI and a range of performance and UI enhancements ahead of the September public launch.

Apple announced the availability of the seventh developer beta of iOS 27 for devices enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. Users can install the update via Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. The beta is expected to become the fifth public beta, with the final release slated for next month.

The update centers on Siri AI, a rebuilt assistant powered by Apple’s next-generation Intelligence and new Foundation Models. Apple says the new Siri AI will support richer conversations, personal context, broader world knowledge, on-screen awareness, and deeper app actions. On iPhone, Siri AI will feature a visual experience linked to the Dynamic Island and a dedicated Siri app for reviewing conversations across devices.

Additional AI-driven enhancements are introduced across Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, Home and other apps, with some functions running on-device and others using Private Cloud Compute. The beta also adds a new Siri mode in the Camera app and improvements to Camera Control.

Beyond AI, iOS 27 brings refinements to the Liquid Glass design, including a transparency slider for system UI, and performance gains for app launches, photo loading, camera startup in Low Power Mode, AirDrop transfers, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular switching. Other updates include keyword and star rating support in Photos, customizable slideshows, smoother camera behavior, continuous message sending, dual capture in FaceTime, custom EQ settings for AirPods, new recovery options, easier Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpaper creation.

Apple cautions that beta software may still exhibit bugs, reduced battery life, and app compatibility issues. Users are encouraged to report any notable changes they encounter.
