Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson hospitalized after kickoff collision but shows full limb movement

Summary

Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson was taken to a local hospital after a collision on the opening kickoff, and officials said he has strength and movement in all extremities.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson was carried off the field on a stretcher after a collision during the opening kickoff against the New England Patriots on Saturday. The team confirmed he was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and that he retained strength and movement in all four limbs.

"He is awake, has full movement and use of all four limbs, and his CT scan came back negative," said his agent Damien Butler of CMV Sports.

The incident occurred when Jackson, part of the Eagles’ kickoff unit, tackled Patriots returner Lan Larison and appeared to be struck on the head by Larison’s knee. Witnesses noted Jackson’s immediate fencing response, extending both arms. After medical personnel attended to him, the Eagles sideline gathered around the player before he was escorted off the field to applause from the Foxborough crowd.

Jackson, who signed with Philadelphia less than two weeks ago after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He played college football at Texas, Utah and Arkansas, recording 149 rushes for 790 yards and 15 touchdowns in his final season.
