Broncos aim to build momentum in preseason clash with Packers
Denver hosts Green Bay in the second preseason game, with quarterback Bo Nix returning and the defensive line seeking a fifth starter.
Denver will host the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday night for the Broncos' second preseason contest. After a convincing win over the Atlanta Falcons in the opener, the Broncos hope to maintain their early success in front of a home crowd.
Quarterback Bo Nix is slated to play his first snap since the AFC Divisional Playoff against Buffalo. Head coach Sean Payton said Nix will be on a limited pitch count of roughly fourteen plays, giving the coaching staff a chance to evaluate his performance under offensive coordinator Davis Webb.
The game also provides an opportunity for the Broncos to involve their tight ends more frequently. In the preseason opener, the team attempted only five passes to tight ends, despite having several young players at the position.
Defensively, Denver looks to identify a fifth defensive-line starter after the departure of John Franklin-Myers in free agency. Second-year defensive end Sai’vion Jones and rookie Tyler Onyedim, both third-round selections, are expected to compete for the role, though both saw limited impact in the previous game.
The matchup will serve as a further assessment of the Broncos' depth on both sides of the ball as the preseason progresses.
