Chris Hansen Declines NDA, Misses A24 Thriller Screening
Chris Hansen said he was denied a preview of A24's film "Primetime" after refusing to sign a standard nondisclosure agreement, a claim contradicted by a source familiar with the screening process.
Chris Hansen told Fox News that he was turned away from a private screening of A24's upcoming thriller "Primetime" because the studio required him to sign a restrictive agreement. He said the contract would have forced him to relinquish rights to his name, image and any potential legal claims arising from the film.
A source familiar with the event said the agreement in question was a routine nondisclosure agreement (NDA) that preview audiences typically sign a week before viewing an unreleased movie to prevent spoilers and protect intellectual property. The source added that Hansen declined to sign the NDA, and as a result was not admitted to the screening.
"Primetime," directed by Lance Oppenheim and written by Ajon Singh, stars Robert Pattinson portraying Hansen and is scheduled to open in theaters on Sept. 25. The film dramatizes Hansen's role in the early 2000s NBC series "To Catch a Predator," which conducted hidden-camera stings targeting adults seeking sexual contact with minors.
