Diamondbacks move Ketel Marte to 10-day injured list amid knee and hamstring issues

Summary

Arizona Diamondbacks placed second baseman Ketel Marte on the 10-day injured list after a recent restricted-list stint, citing inflammation in his left knee and upper hamstring.

Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen announced that second baseman Ketel Marte has been transferred from the restricted list to the 10-day injured list. The move follows reports of inflammation in Marte’s left knee and upper hamstring.

Marte was placed on the restricted list earlier this week after missing a game in Boston and subsequently traveling to Phoenix for knee imaging. His agent, Charisse Dash, told MLB Network that Marte is dealing with a personal matter and will undergo an MRI on Thursday, expressing gratitude for support from fans, teammates and the organization.

Hazen said the club is committed to helping Marte recover and that a meeting with the player, manager Torey Lovullo and Dash was held at the team’s Arizona complex.

"We are fully committed to helping, in any way that we can, figure out how this gets better and moves forward," Hazen said on a local sports show.

Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall added that the organization expects explanations and an apology from Marte, but remains optimistic about his return, noting the importance of prompt medical treatment for injuries.
