Dave Bautista Cast as Kratos in Prime Video's God of War Series
Dave Bautista will replace Ryan Hurst as Kratos in the upcoming Prime Video adaptation of the video game God of War, with production resuming and earlier scenes being reshot.
Actor Dave Bautista has been confirmed to take over the role of Kratos in Prime Video's television adaptation of the God of War video game franchise, after Ryan Hurst suffered a bicep injury on set earlier this summer. Variety reported that production will restart in the coming weeks, with all scenes featuring Hurst being reshot and the first two seasons slated to be filmed back-to-back.
The series, overseen by showrunner Ronald D. Moore, will follow the narrative of the recent PlayStation titles, focusing on Kratos and his son Atreus as they journey to scatter the ashes of their mother, Faye. The official series description states:
"Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human."
No release date has been announced, though industry sources suggest a 2028 premiere may be likely.
