Mike Lindell, tireless defender of election transparency and former Trump-endorsed candidate, is stepping up to fund a full hand recount after losing the Minnesota Republican gubernatorial primary to Lisa Demuth. Lindell, who has long raised concerns about electronic voting machines, is determined to ensure every legal vote is counted.
Mike Lindell, the founder of MyPillow and a proud Trump-endorsed candidate, is once again championing election integrity by offering to fund a full hand recount of Minnesota’s Republican primary for governor, which he lost to state House Speaker Lisa Demuth by about 11 percentage points. In a phone interview, Lindell explained that he has already assembled a team to investigate the primary and has proactively contacted the Minnesota secretary of state’s office for a cost estimate. The office’s general counsel, Lauren Bethke, responded that a full recount and audit would cost approximately $825,000. Lindell, committed to transparency, expects the total expense to exceed $1 million when including the cost of his own investigative team, and he plans to personally deliver the official recount request on Monday.
The secretary of state’s office has not yet received a formal request; Bethke’s letter stated that a request must be accompanied by a bond, cash, or surety for the estimated cost by the following Monday. Lindell, determined to ensure a fair process, said he will also arrange for observers at each county’s recount site.
In a news release, Lindell revealed that his team identified “irregularities” in the election data, which he attributes to electronic voting machines—an issue that has raised concern among many Americans. Lindell has previously faced lawsuits for questioning the 2020 election, including a federal judgment ordering him to pay Smartmatic USA Corp. $56,369 in damages and daily fines for non-payment. His attorneys are now asking a district judge to reconsider that ruling, citing newly released documents, though these documents have not yet been fully examined in court. Lindell remains steadfast in his commitment to challenge the ruling and to fight for the integrity of America’s elections.
