South Carolina Senate candidate acknowledges limited foreign-policy experience in debate

Resumen

Sen. Darline Graham, running in a South Carolina runoff, said she lacks expertise on national security issues such as Taiwan and the South China Sea, but affirmed her support for the military.

Sen. Darline Graham, a candidate in South Carolina’s upcoming runoff election, admitted limited knowledge of national-security matters during a Tuesday night debate. When asked whether Taiwan and the South China Sea constitute U.S. security concerns, she said, "I’m not that informed on national security," before adding that she supports the military.

Graham highlighted her family’s military background, noting her late brother Lindsey’s 33-year Air Force service and her father’s Army career, and pledged to do everything she can to support the armed forces.

The candidate, who was appointed to fill her brother’s Senate seat after his unexpected death on July 11, is seeking a full term against Rep. Ralph Norman.
