Apple releases iOS 27 beta 6 with upgraded Siri AI features
Apple has made the sixth developer beta of iOS 27 available, highlighting a major Siri AI overhaul and a range of performance and UI enhancements ahead of the September public release.
Apple announced the availability of the sixth developer beta of iOS 27 for devices enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. Users can install the update via Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. The beta is expected to become public beta 4, with the final public version slated for release next month.
The update focuses on a revamped Siri AI, built on Apple’s next-generation Intelligence and new Foundation Models. Apple says the new assistant will support richer conversations, personal context, broader knowledge, on-screen awareness and deeper integration with apps. On iPhone, Siri AI will feature a Dynamic Island visual experience and a dedicated Siri app for reviewing past interactions.
Additional AI-driven enhancements are introduced across Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, Home and other apps, with some functions running on-device and others using Private Cloud Compute. Visual Intelligence also adds a new Siri mode in the Camera app and upgrades Camera Control.
Beyond AI, iOS 27 beta 6 brings refinements to the Liquid Glass design, including a transparency slider for system UI, and performance gains for app launches, photo loading, camera startup in Low Power Mode, AirDrop transfers and Wi-Fi-to-cellular handoffs. New features include keyword tagging and star ratings in Photos, customizable slideshows, smoother camera operation, continuous message sending, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom EQ for AirPods, expanded recovery options, easier Apple Pay card switching and AI-generated wallpaper creation.
Apple advises that beta software may still exhibit bugs, reduced battery life and app compatibility issues. Users are encouraged to report any notable changes they encounter.
