Senator Jon Ossoff reiterated that he has no plans to seek the presidency in 2028 while focusing on his 2024 re-election campaign, even as a new poll shows his name gaining traction among potential Democratic nominees.

Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff told reporters on Sunday that he is concentrating on his upcoming Senate race and has "zero interest" in a presidential bid in 2028. The comment came as he campaigned against Republican Rep. Mike Collins, a Trump-aligned candidate, and as his name appeared in an Emerson College poll for the first time as a possible Democratic nominee for the 2028 election. In that poll, released on July 23, Ossoff received 13 percent support, trailing Pete Buttigieg (19 percent) and Gavin Newsom (17 percent).

Ossoff, who has faced personal attacks from President Donald Trump, said his focus remains on Georgia and on addressing issues such as the cost of living and voter-suppression concerns. He declined to comment on the poll’s implications for his future ambitions.

The Emerson poll also showed Democrats holding a lead over Republicans in upcoming congressional contests, with 53 percent support for Democratic candidates versus 42 percent for Republicans. Among Republicans, former Ohio governor JD Vance led with 39 percent support, followed closely by Senator Marco Rubio at 38 percent.

Early state polling indicates Ossoff holds a sizable advantage over Collins, who is under a House ethics investigation. The senator’s campaign videos have attracted significant online attention, garnering millions of views on platforms such as TikTok.
