Caitlin Clark leads Indiana Fever to overtime win over Atlanta Dream

Summary

Caitlin Clark scored 26 points and hit decisive free throws in overtime as the Indiana Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream 95-91 at State Farm Arena.

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were at the center of an overtime thriller Sunday evening at State Farm Arena, where the Indiana Fever edged the Atlanta Dream 95-91. Clark contributed 26 points, nine assists and two crucial free throws in the extra period, while also securing the game-sealing rebound.

The Fever rallied from an eight-point deficit after Atlanta opened a 72-64 lead in the third quarter. Indiana’s defense limited the Dream to nine points in the fourth, the lowest output of the season for Atlanta, and forced the game into overtime.

In regulation, with the score tied at 81, Rhyne Howard missed a three-pointer and Reese grabbed the offensive rebound, but her layup attempt missed the rim. The Dream’s final shot also missed, sending the contest to extra time.

Reese opened overtime with a basket, but Indiana responded with an eight-point run. Kelsey Mitchell added a layup that extended the lead to 93-88 with 13.6 seconds left, marking her 20th point and continuing a streak of 19 consecutive 20-point games.

A foul on Clark with 10 seconds remaining gave Howard three free throws; he made all three, narrowing the gap to 93-91. Clark was subsequently fouled and calmly sank both free throws, securing the win. The Dream missed their final attempt, and Clark grabbed the rebound before the clock expired.

Other notable performances included Mitchell’s 20 points, Makayla Timpson’s 20 points on efficient shooting, and Aliyah Boston’s 18 points with 14 rebounds for Indiana. For Atlanta, Allisha Gray led with 32 points, while Reese recorded 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists despite a low shooting percentage.

The contest featured multiple lead changes, a defensive stand in the fourth quarter, and a dramatic overtime finish, adding another chapter to the rivalry between Clark and Reese.
