Summary

Michigan State Police say six people were killed, including a suspect, after a series of shootings in Lake Township and Missaukee County on Friday.

Michigan State Police reported that six people, including a suspect, died after a shooting incident that unfolded at three separate sites in northern lower Michigan on Friday. Troopers responded around 11:40 a.m. to a home on South LaChance Road in Lake Township following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, three victims were found dead and a fourth, a 13-year-old girl, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, later listed as stable. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Chad Hickman, fled the scene before police arrived, prompting a large-scale search that involved K-9 units.

During the search, a fourth victim, a 53-year-old man, was discovered dead at another residence in Missaukee County. Hickman's vehicle was located near a wooded area by Whitlock Lake in Caldwell Township, where he and a 29-year-old woman were found deceased.

The victims identified at the South LaChance Road home include a 45-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male. Authorities said several surrounding agencies assisted in the investigation. > "We remain committed to conducting a thorough investigation and will provide updates as new information becomes available," MSP Lieutenant Ashley Miller said.

The investigation continues as officials work to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the multiple shootings.
