HBO Max renews "Stuart Fails To Save The Universe" for second season
The streaming service confirmed a second season of the sci-fi comedy spinoff, citing strong global launch numbers and positive audience response.
HBO Max announced that the single-camera comedy "Stuart Fails To Save The Universe" will return for a second season. The renewal was confirmed after the series had aired four episodes of its first season, which the streamer described as its second-biggest comedy launch worldwide.
The show, created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady, follows Stuart Bloom, a comic-book store owner who must repair reality after breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard. He is joined by his girlfriend Denise, a geologist friend, and a quantum physicist as they encounter alternate-universe versions of characters from the original sitcom.
"We’re delighted with how this hilarious, genre-bending show from Chuck, Zak, and Bill has connected with the audience, both devotees of The Big Bang Theory and new fans alike," said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming and head of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Series.
"Chuck, Zak, and Bill delivered something truly special with Stuart Fails To Save The Universe — a completely original take on one of the most beloved franchises of all time," said Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group.
The series stars Kevin Sussman as Stuart, Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke. Episodes continue to drop weekly on Thursdays, exclusive to the Warner Bros. Discovery platform.
