Rosie O'Donnell Says Wynonna Judd Is Her Only Friend Who Supports Trump

Summary

Comedian Rosie O'Donnell said she maintains a long-standing friendship with country singer Wynonna Judd, who backs President Donald Trump, while she has no other Trump supporters in her circle.

Rosie O'Donnell told listeners of the "The Tangle with Kyle Ridley" podcast that she has no other acquaintances who support President Donald Trump, except for longtime friend Wynonna Judd. O'Donnell said the two have never discussed Judd's political views and that she "gives her a grace" because of the singer's difficult personal history, including the suicide of her mother, Naomi Judd, in 2022.

"I really love her and I care about her, and for some reason I'm able to put that aside when we interact," O'Donnell said.

The comedian added that she does not understand why people continue to support Trump, describing his behavior as "cruel," "criminal," and marked by "misogyny, racism, [and] homophobia." She noted that she and Trump have exchanged insults for decades and offered a personal theory that her outspoken style may have irritated him from childhood.

"My theory is ... there have been so many comedians who have said things about him, but I am from the same area that he’s from ... I think I trigger him like a PTSD response of all his failures in his life as a kid," O'Donnell said in a recent interview with Variety.
