49ers receiver Ricky Pearsall undergoes knee surgery, expects nine-month rehab

Summary

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall had posterior cruciate ligament surgery on his right knee and anticipates a nine-month recovery ahead of the 2027 season.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall underwent surgery to repair the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is projected to need about nine months of rehabilitation before returning to play, likely in time for the 2027 season. Pearsall, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve in August, posted on Instagram after the procedure, saying he is focusing on mental, physical and spiritual preparation for the recovery process.

The injury originally occurred in a Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last season and caused him to miss or limit participation in ten games. Initial attempts at non-surgical treatment were abandoned after swelling returned during training camp, prompting the decision for surgery.

Pearsall, who entered the league after playing 20 games at the University of Florida, has recorded 67 receptions for 928 yards and three touchdowns in his first three seasons. The team will evaluate his fifth-year contract option next offseason.
