Analysts Predict Base iPhone 18 Will Receive 12GB RAM and Narrower Dynamic Island
Analyst Jeff Pu says the standard iPhone 18, slated for a March 2027 launch, could feature 12GB of RAM and a slimmer Dynamic Island, while the lower-cost iPhone 18e is expected to have 9GB of RAM.
Apple is expected to introduce the base iPhone 18 by March 2027 with a memory increase to 12GB, up from the 8GB in the iPhone 17, analyst Jeff Pu said. The upgrade would match the RAM level of the iPhone 17 Pro models. Pu also noted that the lower-priced iPhone 18e, scheduled for the same period, would retain 9GB of RAM, aligning with earlier estimates from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Both devices are projected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 processor. In addition, Pu expects the standard iPhone 18 to adopt a narrower Dynamic Island, a change previously linked mainly to Pro models and recently suggested by leaker Ice Universe for the entire lineup.
"The regular iPhone 18 will feature a narrower Dynamic Island," Pu said, citing supply-chain sources.
These forecasts differ from Kuo’s report that both the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e would have 9GB of RAM, a configuration that could limit support for certain Apple Intelligence features.
