Apple releases iOS 27 public beta 3 with new Siri AI and performance upgrades
Apple has made the third public beta of iOS 27 available, featuring an AI-enhanced Siri, redesigns to Screen Time and Liquid Glass, and speed improvements across supported iPhone models.
Apple announced that the third public beta of iOS 27 is now available for iPhone users. The update introduces an AI-powered version of Siri built on the company’s Apple Intelligence platform, allowing more conversational interactions and the ability to search personal data across apps. Siri responses appear in the Dynamic Island and a dedicated app stores conversation history synced privately via iCloud.
The beta also adds AI-driven features to other apps. Safari can group tabs by topic, create extensions from natural-language prompts, and monitor webpages for changes. Photos gains three new editing tools—Clean Up, Extend, and Spatial Reframing—to remove distractions, expand image content, and adjust perspective. The Passwords app can automatically replace weak or compromised passwords, while Shortcuts can generate automations from plain-language requests.
Apple refined the Liquid Glass visual style, adding a customization slider in Settings > Appearance that lets users adjust the level of translucency system-wide. Performance enhancements promise up to 30% faster app launches, 80% quicker AirDrop transfers, and smoother navigation on iPhone 11 and newer models.
Screen Time receives a redesign that offers parents clearer dashboards, category-based time limits, schedule controls, and expanded “Ask to Browse” permissions for web content. The update also improves content safety by detecting gore and violent material.
The beta is compatible with all iPhones that run iOS 26, from iPhone 11 onward, though the full Siri AI experience requires Apple Intelligence-compatible devices such as iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Apple advises users to back up their devices and recommends installing beta software on a secondary iPhone.
"Siri can now hold an ongoing conversation and search your personal information," an Apple spokesperson said.
Users can report issues through the built-in Feedback Assistant, and Apple plans to release the final iOS 27 version later this year.
