Bills investigate obstructed-view complaints after practice at new Highmark Stadium

Summary

The Buffalo Bills said they are reviewing feedback on sightline issues revealed by photos from a recent practice at their new Highmark Stadium, with adjustments planned before the season opener on Sept. 17.

Buffalo officials said they are reviewing internal and external feedback after photos surfaced showing obstructed sightlines from certain seats during a practice held at the new Highmark Stadium on Aug. 8. The practice, which drew more than 50,000 fans, was the first time the team used the 60,108-capacity venue, which will host its regular-season home opener against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 17.

In a statement released on Aug. 10, the Bills thanked fans for the attendance record and said the next six weeks would be used to "refine any details" before the season begins. The team also noted that tickets listed on Ticketmaster clearly indicate which seats have limited views.

A source familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity, said fewer than 1% of season-ticket holders who attended the practice raised sightline concerns, and many of the images circulating online depict seats that are not available for football games.

Highmark Stadium, the NFL’s smallest venue by official capacity, will also host a preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 15, an open public practice on Aug. 18, and a preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Aug. 27.
