Psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner Testify in Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial
During the third week of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Tufts and psychiatric nurse practitioner Julie Paul gave testimony about the mother's mental health treatment prior to the killings.
The third week of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial featured testimony from mental-health professionals who had evaluated the Duxbury mother before she allegedly killed her three children. Psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who saw Clancy one day before the incident, was first questioned by prosecutors and then cross-examined by the defense on Monday. After her testimony concluded, psychiatric nurse practitioner Julie Paul, who had been referred to Clancy by her former mother-in-law, took the stand to describe her treatment of the mother.
Prosecutors maintain that Clancy strangled her children—Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months—on Jan. 24, 2023, after sending her husband, Patrick, out on errands. The mother then jumped from a second-story window, resulting in paralysis from the waist down.
"Dr. Tufts evaluated Ms. Clancy the day before the tragedy and noted significant psychiatric concerns," the prosecution noted during cross-examination.
"Ms. Paul treated Ms. Clancy for several weeks and observed worsening symptoms," the defense highlighted in its questioning.
The courtroom proceedings continued with further examination of the defendants' mental-health history as the trial moves forward.
