Eagles Day 9 training camp highlights feature strong showing by Darius Cooper and late-game drills
Philadelphia Eagles' ninth practice day highlighted wide receiver Darius Cooper's productive session and several end-of-game scenario drills, while quarterback Andy Dalton struggled.
Philadelphia Eagles coaches ran a variety of drills on the ninth day of camp, including 11-on-11 situational scenarios that simulated two-minute offense situations. Wide receiver Darius Cooper recorded double-digit receptions, catching contested balls, finding open space in the middle of the field and executing an out route that created separation from defender Riq Woolen before securing a pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts.
In one end-of-game drill, the offense started on its own 35-yard line with 55 seconds left and no timeouts, down by four points. Defensive back Quinyon Mitchell intercepted a pass, ending the play. A second drill placed the offense at the opponent’s 35-yard line with 52 seconds remaining. After a series of short completions to Cooper and Elijah Moore, Hurts rolled right and threw a cross-body pass to Moore for a touchdown.
Quarterback Andy Dalton had a difficult practice, missing several throws intended for Elijah Moore, Britain Covey and Cooper, and over-throwing a deep attempt to Quez Watkins on a fourth-and-10 situation.
Other notable moments included defensive lineman Tyler Steen blocking Ty Robinson during a drill, and Robinson later generating pressure on the quarterback after a brief sack. Backup quarterbacks Tanner McKee and Cole Payton each completed a few throws, with McKee delivering a pass to Brandon Hayes and Payton throwing a deep ball over Hayes' head. Running back Tank Bigsby was observed hustling downfield to block, helping Elijah Moore gain additional yards after a catch.
