Aaron Donald's Return Decision Expected by End of Week
Former Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is expected to announce his decision on returning to the NFL by the end of the week, after two years of retirement.
Aaron Donald, who retired from the NFL two years ago, is slated to announce whether he will resume his playing career by the end of this week. The Los Angeles Rams have indicated they are prepared to reintegrate him using the same conditioning plan employed during his contract holdouts in 2017 and 2018, aiming for him to be ready for the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.
The team expects Donald to participate in several weeks of practice before the first game, targeting 30 to 40 defensive snaps. Officials noted that his assessment will depend on how he performs in live drills and scrimmages against other players, a step necessary to gauge his current speed and agility.
"We want to give Aaron the time and resources he needs to make an informed decision and get back into shape," a Rams spokesperson said.
Donald has not yet rejoined team activities, and his final decision will determine whether he returns to the field for the upcoming season.
