President Donald Trump shared AI-styled images of a planned White House ballroom rooftop drone port and criticized a court order halting construction, framing the project as a national-security measure.
President Donald Trump used his Truth Social platform on Saturday to share three AI-generated images titled “DronePort,” depicting the roof of the planned White House ballroom covered with military drones, armed personnel and refueling trucks. The posts repeated a claim he made in May that the rooftop facility would provide "National Security for Washington, D.C., and will protect future Presidents."
The images were posted after a federal appeals court ruled on Friday that construction of the ballroom must stop until congressional approval is obtained, overturning a prior administration decision. The court found the project lacked the necessary legislative authorization, leaving the construction on hold as lawmakers consider funding.
Trump has framed the ballroom and its rooftop "drone port" as a security asset, arguing that its anti-drone capabilities are essential for protecting White House occupants and visitors. He criticized the court’s decision, saying it jeopardizes the safety of current and future presidents and their families.
The ballroom project, originally included in legislation passed earlier this year, was later removed from the funding bill due to insufficient Senate support. The president’s focus on the initiative has continued amid broader efforts to renovate and maintain Washington, D.C., landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
