Eagles hold longest training-camp practice amid injuries and roster updates

Summary

Philadelphia held its eighth training-camp scrimmage, the longest of the summer, with several players on the injury list, notable performances from quarterback Jalen Hurts and key defensive contributors, and updates on veteran linemen.

Philadelphia hosted its eighth training-camp practice at the Jefferson Health Training Complex, marking the longest session of the summer. The scrimmage featured a full-team workout in hot weather, with several players listed as inactive due to hamstring issues, including wide receivers DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon, Britain Covey and Cole Wisniewski, as well as edge rusher Keyshawn James-Newby (ankle). Linebacker Chance Campbell participated at a limited level because of a groin strain.

Offensive linemen Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson were managed with reduced repetitions, while Markel Bell and Drew Kendall filled in at right tackle and left guard respectively. Johnson indicated that the 2026 season is likely to be his final year in the league.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts connected with multiple receivers, notably completing a crossing route to Hollywood Brown for a touchdown and delivering a short pass to Elijah Moore that resulted in a two-point conversion. He also demonstrated mobility with a quarterback draw that reached the end zone. However, Hurts threw an incomplete pass out of bounds on a potential completion and was intercepted by defender Zack Baun on a scripted play.

Running back Saquon Barkley recorded several effective runs, including a short touchdown from his own end zone. Defensive standouts included Jalen Carter, who recorded multiple sacks, and Jordan Davis, who continued to show strength as both a run defender and pass rusher. Rookie defensive tackle Ty Robinson had a notable practice, earning a false-start penalty against an opponent.

Backup quarterback Andy Dalton led the second-team offense, completing a pass to Eli Stowers before a dropped ball and a subsequent knock-down by a defender. The Eagles also gave additional reps to younger linemen such as Tyler Lampkin, who worked at guard and center, and evaluated depth at the tackle position with Markel Bell receiving the majority of snaps.

Special teams kicker Jake Elliott made six of six attempts from varying distances, improving his camp performance. Owner Jeffrey Lurie attended the practice, and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler visited as a guest.

The team will observe a rest day on Sunday and resume practice on Monday morning.
