Quarterback Jayden Daniels praises chemistry with new Commanders receiver Stefon Diggs
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels said the veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs brings focus and experience, and the two plan to develop chemistry through communication and extra work.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels spoke about the team’s recent acquisition of veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs, describing the receiver’s focus, energy and willingness to improve. Daniels told the team’s Next Man Up podcast that Diggs’s career achievements and recovery from an ACL injury impressed him, and that he looks forward to learning from Diggs’s experience.
"Open communication, constant communication, watching film and talking through a lot of different routes," Daniels said, adding that work after practice is essential for building their partnership.
Diggs indicated that he and Daniels will develop chemistry over the summer through extra practice and dialogue, a sentiment Daniels echoed, noting the importance of studying film and discussing route concepts. He also said he intends to draw on Diggs’s knowledge of defensive coverages and route running.
The addition of Diggs expands Washington’s receiving corps, which already includes Terry McLaurin, and is expected to strengthen the team’s passing attack.
