Twin Falls police release video outlining In-N-Out shooting sequence
Twin Falls authorities posted a blurred video and timeline of the Aug. 1 shooting at an In-N-Out Burger, showing the gunman's movements and the interventions by an off-duty trooper and an armed civilian.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks provided a blurred video and detailed timeline of the August 1 shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho. The footage shows the gunman arriving in a Honda Civic, firing through the drive-through and killing two victims before exiting the vehicle.
An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper, identified as former Twin Falls officer Austin James Scott, ran toward the shooter and drew his handgun, but was pulled away after sustaining severe blood loss. Police later clarified that a separate off-duty trooper inside the restaurant assisted with evacuations and later exchanged fire with the gunman.
A civilian bystander, later named as Jordan Salinas of Kimberly, Idaho, also opened fire on the shooter, helping to drive him away from the restaurant. The gunman then moved toward a nearby intersection, shooting three people stopped at a red light, and continued to a Tesla charging station where he killed a passenger and wounded another.
The suspect fled toward the Twin Falls Visitors Center and a trail, where he was confronted by an employee. Police pursued him to a canyon near a shopping center; he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities said the actions of the trooper, the armed civilian, employees and other bystanders contributed to limiting further casualties. The investigation into the motive remains ongoing.
