Summary

In Friday's intra-squad scrimmage, wide receiver DeMario Douglas caught six passes, including two touchdowns, while backup quarterback Tommy DeVito completed 13 of 16 attempts and threw a 50-yard pass.

The New England Patriots held an intra-squad scrimmage on Friday in Foxborough, with first-team quarterback Drake Maye’s White Team facing backup quarterback Tommy DeVito’s Blue Team. Wide receiver DeMario Douglas emerged as the most productive player, recording six receptions and two touchdowns, and adding a 50-yard catch that moved the offense into field-goal range.

DeVito, celebrating his 28th birthday, completed 13 of 16 passes and threw both of Douglas’s touchdowns, demonstrating accuracy and arm strength. Defensive standouts included rookie edge rusher Xavier Holmes, who recorded a sack and a pass breakup, and linebacker Khalil Jacobs, who forced two fumbles and nearly intercepted a pass. Cornerback Kindle Vildor broke up two passes intended for A.J. Brown early in the scrimmage. Kicker Andy Borregales missed a 50-yard field-goal attempt and an extra point, both to his left.

The team will pause practice for the weekend and resume with a closed session on Monday, followed by a joint practice with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday ahead of the preseason opener.
